Walter Klepetko is an Austrian thoracic surgeon born on February 26, 1955, in Vienna. He held the position of head of the lung transplantation program at the Vienna Medical University from 1989 until early 2018. In 2010, he became the head of the Clinical Department of Thoracic Surgery at the University Clinic for Surgery of the Medical University of Vienna at AKH Vienna. In July 2019, he took on the additional role as head of the overarching University Clinic for Surgery.
