Walter Meier-Arendt is a German prehistorian archaeologist born on June 12, 1938, in Frankfurt am Main. He served as the director of the Archaeological Museum Frankfurt from 1980 to 2001, moving the museum to a former Carmelite monastery with an extension designed by Josef Kleihues. Meier-Arendt organized notable international exhibitions and conducted significant research on the Neolithic period in West Germany, producing influential works recognized as classics in prehistoric literature. He is also a member of the Association of State Archaeologists in Germany.
