Walter Francis Penney (January 18, 1913 – June 24, 2000) was an American mathematician known for his work in cryptanalysis. He had a career with the Crypto Analysis Group of the US Navy, which later became the NSA. His contributions to the field include the well-known Penney's paradox, which pertains to probability theory.
