Walter David Schnaubelt, born on October 4, 1966, is a Papua New Guinean politician of Chinese and Austrian descent and serves as the Member of Parliament for the Namatanai Open Electorate in New Ireland Province. A member of the National Alliance Party, he won his parliamentary seat by defeating his cousin Byron Chan with 20,479 votes. Schnaubelt also achieved success in sports, winning a gold medal in Karate at the 1999 Pacific Games held in Guam. In August 2019, he joined the coalition government led by James Marape and Steven Davis.
