Walton Empey is a retired Church of Ireland bishop born on October 26, 1934, in Dublin. He served as Archbishop of Dublin after being elected in 1996. He studied at Trinity College and was ordained in the late 1950s. Empey served in various capacities, including in Canada, before returning to Ireland where he held several rector positions. He became a bishop in 1981, and had a significant ecclesiastical career, eventually retiring in 2002. Empey is married and has four children and ten grandchildren.
