Wanda Alston (1959-2005) was a prominent American feminist and LGBT activist. She served as an executive assistant for the National Organization for Women and was a co-leader at the 1995 UN World Conference on Women in Beijing. Alston played a vital role in political organizing and was active in the Democratic Party. From 2004 until her tragic death in 2005, she was the acting director of the Washington, D.C., Office of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Affairs. In 2019, she was honored posthumously on the National LGBTQ Wall of Honor.
