Warren Billingsley Hitchcock (1919-1984) was an Australian field biologist and ornithologist, born in Ashfield, New South Wales. He served in the military during World War II and later worked at various Australian state museums. After a serious vehicle accident left him disabled, he became involved with the CSIRO, focusing on ornithology and the Australian Bird Banding Scheme. Hitchcock joined and contributed to the Royal Australasian Ornithologists Union and founded the Canberra Ornithologists Group. He passed away in Auckland from congestive heart failure.
