Warren Spears (1954-2005) was an American dancer and choreographer known for his contributions to contemporary dance. Born in Detroit, he moved to New York in 1972 to study at the Juilliard School, which led to a stint with Alvin Ailey's troupe from 1974 to 1977. Later, he choreographed for the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company and founded his own company, the Spears Collection. In the 1980s, he established the New Danish Dance Theater in Denmark and was recognized with a knighthood by Queen Margrethe in 2003. He also appeared in Lars von Trier's film Dancer in the Dark.
