Wassyl Hryhorovych Smekalin (February 21, 1901 – February 8, 1940) was a Ukrainian composer, conductor, and educator. He graduated from the State Music and Drama Institute named after M. V. Lysenko in Kyiv, where he taught from 1930 to 1936. Smekalin served as the conductor of the Kyiv Opera from 1927 to 1937, and he composed works including 'Ceremonial March' for wind orchestra, 'Rondo' for two pianos, and arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs.
