Watō Takahashi, born on January 31, 1937, is a Japanese author known for his historical and period novels. He was born in Sakhalin and spent three years in Taiwan from the age of seven. Takahashi graduated from Chuo University with a degree in law and worked as an editor for industrial machinery magazines. He gained recognition in 1989 when he won the All Yomiuri Newcomer Prize and the Shōsetsuka Club Newcomer Prize for his work "Jūsan-himeko ga Suga o Karu." He currently resides in Kasahara-cho, Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture.
