Werner Giese was a German veterinarian and professor at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover. He studied veterinary medicine and obtained his degree in 1960, later earning a doctorate in biokinetics. He conducted research on iodine and strontium metabolism at Cornell University. Giese became an associate professor in 1972, and was appointed a full professor in 1978. His notable work included developing a veterinary pharmacological treatment for radioactive cesium contamination in animals. He retired in 1999 and passed away in 2023.
