Wieland Backes is a German television journalist and presenter born on September 10, 1946, in Feldbach, Austria. He is best known as the founder and host of the SWR talk show Nachtcafé. In addition to his work on Nachtcafé, he hosted the quiz show Ich trage einen großen Namen. Backes also serves as one of the directors of the Institute for Moderation (imo) at the Stuttgart Media University, where he volunteers to train aspiring moderators.
