Wiesław Łasiński was a rear admiral and a professor of medical sciences born on December 25, 1915, in Stary Sącz, Poland. He served as the commander-rector of the Military Medical Academy from 1965 to 1972 and later became the rector of the Medical Academy in Gdańsk. Łasiński was also a recipient of an honorary doctorate from the Military Medical Academy and participated in the September Campaign during World War II. He passed away on July 23, 2010, in Łódź.
