In 1964, he founded a data company that is now known as Pulsen in Borås, making it Sweden's oldest IT company. In parallel with establishing his data company, Bartholdson played top-level football for IF Elfsborg and won the Swedish championship (SM-guld) with them in 1961. He has been married to Katarina Bartholdson since 1963.
