Wilhelm Steger (March 28, 1902 - August 20, 1985) was the mayor of Traunstein from 1960 to 1972. He was elected as a candidate of the Independent Voters of Traunstein with 72.9% of the votes after the death of the previous mayor, Josef Kössl. Steger was re-elected in 1966 with 54.1% of the votes. During his twelve years in office, he oversaw numerous infrastructure projects including the modernization of the district hospital, construction of a new swimming pool, gymnasiums, and a nursing school, along with the development of a business area with rail access.
