William A. Porter (1928–2015) was an influential American businessperson known for co-founding E-Trade, the first electronic trading platform, alongside Bernard A. Newcomb. He also co-founded the International Securities Exchange, becoming its first chairman on his 70th birthday in 1998. Recognized as the 'forefather of online trading' by CNN in 2000, Porter served as CEO, board member, and chairman emeritus of E-Trade. In his later years, he supported various initiatives related to organic farming, recreation, and community development on Kauai's North Shore.
