William B. Evans, born on February 23, 1958, is the executive director of public safety and chief of police at Boston College. He previously served as the commissioner of the Boston Police Department from January 2014 to August 2018, having been appointed interim commissioner in November 2013. A Suffolk University graduate, he holds master's degrees in cybersecurity and criminal justice. Evans is also a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy and the National Executive Institute. He is involved in several professional organizations and teaches as an adjunct professor at Boston College and Boston University.
