William Beinart is a historian and Africanist born on January 19, 1951, in Cape Town, South Africa. He has written extensively on South African history, including notable works such as 'Twentieth-Century South Africa' and 'The Rise of Conservation in South Africa: Settlers, Livestock, and the Environment.' Beinart received his education at the University of Cape Town and the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London. He was a lecturer at the University of Bristol from 1983 to 1997 and is currently a professor of race relations at the University of Oxford.
