William C. Lowe was an American scientist known for his pivotal role in the development of the first mass-produced personal computer, the IBM PC, launched in 1981. He worked at IBM and later joined Xerox after serving as vice president at IBM. Throughout the 1990s, he held executive positions in various engineering business services companies. His significant achievement involved leading a team to create the IBM 5150 model, which utilized the Intel 8088 microprocessor and MS-DOS 1.0 operating system. He passed away in 2013 at the age of 72.
