William Henry Hodgson was a New Zealand fighter pilot and flying ace, credited with five enemy aircraft destructions during World War II. He joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in May 1939 and later transferred to the RAF, flying extensively in the Battle of Britain. Due to eye injuries, he was grounded in February 1941. Tragically, he died in March 1941 when a Douglas A-20 Havoc, piloted by fellow ace Geoffrey Allard, crashed shortly after takeoff.
