William Lindesay (born 8 May 1956) is an English author, runner, and conservationist renowned for his dedication to the preservation of the Great Wall of China. He first visited China in 1986 to run along the Great Wall, completing a documented traverse of 2,470 km in 1987. Lindesay has been recognized as an honorary senior research fellow at the University of Liverpool. In 2016, he received the Royal Society for Asian Affairs’ Special Award, and he has served as an ambassador for Great Wall conservation since 1998.
