William Edward Relling Jr. was a horror and mystery writer born on March 15, 1954, in St. Louis. He graduated from Lutheran High School North in 1971 and was a member of the Colin Sphinctor Band, which relocated to Los Angeles in 1978. After the band disbanded, Relling remained in Los Angeles to focus on his writing. His death by suicide was notably detailed by fellow writer Gary A. Braunbeck in a 2010 book.
