William Kipchirchir Samoei Arap Ruto, born on December 21, 1966, is a Kenyan politician who has served as the fifth and current president of Kenya since September 13, 2022. Before his presidency, he was the first elected deputy president of Kenya from 2013 to 2022. Ruto held various cabinet roles such as Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Agriculture, and Minister of Higher Education. He started his political career as a Member of Parliament and has been active in several political parties including KANU, ODM, and Jubilee. He successfully ran for the presidency in 2022 as a member of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
