William Shuford Self (1906–1998) was a prominent American organist and choirmaster known for his contributions to Episcopal Church music. Born in Lenoir, North Carolina, he studied at The Peabody Institute and New England Conservatory. He served for many years at All Saints' Church in Worcester and St. Thomas Episcopal Church in New York. Notably, he was a judge for the 1956 Church of the Ascension's festival anthem composition competition. His career significantly influenced the landscape of church music before his passing in 1998.
