William Edward Van Poyck was an American criminal born on September 18, 1954, in Miami. He was sentenced to death for the murder of a prison guard during an escape attempt while serving a life sentence for armed robbery. In prison, he started writing and legally helping fellow inmates and maintained a close correspondence with his sister Lisa. Despite not pulling the trigger himself, he was executed by lethal injection on June 12, 2013.
