Winston Churchill Rea, known as Winkie Rea, was a Northern Irish loyalist from Belfast, born in 1950 or 1951. He led the Red Hand Commando, a paramilitary group active during the Troubles. Raised in a loyalist family, he became involved in paramilitary activities early on. Rea was imprisoned for eight years due to his criminal involvement but later participated in the Progressive Unionist Party and the Good Friday Agreement negotiations. He faced serious criminal charges in 2016, which were ongoing at the time of his death on December 1, 2023.
