Wladimiro Bas Zabache, also known as Vladimiro 'Vlady', is a Basque-Spanish jazz musician born on February 2, 1929, in Bilbao. He is skilled in alto saxophone, clarinet, and flute, and has contributed as a composer and bandleader. After studying music at the Bilbao Conservatory, he gained recognition in the 1950s, performing in the US and at the Newport Jazz Festival. A pioneer of free jazz in Spain, he founded the group 'Los mejores del jazz' and produced several albums. He also worked as an educator and collaborated with notable jazz musicians throughout his career.
