Władysław Szepelak, nickname 'Mały', was born on December 6, 1924, in Zakopane and died on February 27, 2012, in Bielanka. He served as a soldier in the ZWZ under Captain Wojciech Bolesław Dusza and was arrested by the Gestapo on September 9, 1943. Szepelak was imprisoned in Auschwitz-Birkenau, Mauthausen-Gusen, and Ebensee. He was also a poet known for writing partisan-themed and religious poems as well as stories and tales.
