He began his photography career in 1984 while studying at EMAV and publishing his fanzine Voll-ker. His photographs appeared in notable publications like Rockdelux, and he was a co-founder of Grup Enderrock, serving as head of photography. Mercadé exhibited at multiple shows and published several books on music culture. He passed away from cancer, leaving behind over a million photographs from 14,000 concerts.
