Xu Peidong is a Chinese composer born on January 1, 1954, in Dalian, Liaoning. He became a principal cellist and musical conductor in the Southern Fujian military song and dance troupe from 1970. He attended the Central Conservatory of Music in 1976. By 1985, he was a composer and conductor at the Chinese Opera House. He is a nationally recognized composer, serving as Deputy Chairman of the Chinese Light Music Association. Xu was named among China's top ten composers in 1992 and 1996 and has received several awards for his contributions to music.
