Yagub Mahmudov (born February 10, 1939) is a prominent Azerbaijani historian, serving as a Doctor of Historical Sciences and a professor. He is an active member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan and has been recognized as a distinguished scholar in both Azerbaijan and Dagestan. Mahmudov is a laureate of the State Prize of Azerbaijan and heads the Department of the Ancient World and Medieval History at Baku State University. He also serves as an advisor within the academy, contributing greatly to the field of historical studies.
