Yahya Ayyash, also known as 'The Engineer,' was a prominent Palestinian leader and explosives expert born on March 6, 1966, in Rafat, West Bank. He was a key figure in Hamas' military wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, until his assassination on January 5, 1996. Ayyash held a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Birzeit University, which he gained in 1993. He was implicated in orchestrating lethal attacks against Israelis and was pursued by Israeli forces from April 1993 until his death, when a bomb concealed in a mobile phone led to his demise.
