Yalçın Tura, born on March 23, 1934, in Istanbul, Turkey, is a Turkish composer, violinist, pianist, philosopher, and musicologist. His musical education includes studying piano and violin, and composition under notable instructors. Tura has created an extensive body of work, including six symphonies, orchestral and chamber music, operas, choral works, ballet music, film music, stage music, concert music, and traditional Turkish music. He also studied philosophy at Istanbul University and served as rector of the State Conservatory of Music in Istanbul from 1988 to 2001.
