Yao Yongquan is a retired Chinese goalball player born on January 15, 1987. He gained fame for scoring the winning goal in the final seconds of the 2008 Summer Paralympics where China triumphed over Lithuania, securing a gold medal. Following an accident in 1998 that caused him to lose most of his eyesight, Yao studied acupuncture and began working as a medical provider at a hospital in his hometown of Dalian, Liaoning province after retiring from sports.
