Yasir Bakhtiari, known as Yas, is a prominent Iranian rapper and songwriter born on January 20, 1982, in Ruzhan, Iran. He is celebrated as one of the most famous rap artists in Iran and the Middle East. Yas grew up with challenges and is known for his music that addresses themes of Iranian nationalism and Zoroastrianism. He gained recognition for his powerful lyrics and in 2011 was selected as MTv's Artist of the Week, becoming the first Iranian rapper to receive a music management license from the Islamic Republic in 2013.
