He holds a doctorate in engineering and specializes in photonic polymers, including high-speed GI-type plastic optical fibers, high-brightness light scattering waveguides, zero-birefringent polymers, high-power polymer optical fiber amplifiers, lasers, and refractive-index distribution polymer lenses.
