Yefrem Hasai was a Ukrainian historian, local historian, and publicist born on April 1, 1938, in the village of Toki, in the Ternopil region. He was notable for his research on the history of Ternopil during the First and Second World Wars. He became a member of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine in 1978 and joined the National Union of Journalists in 1986. Hasai was also an honorary member of the All-Ukrainian Society 'Prosvita' named after Taras Shevchenko since 1998. He passed away on December 20, 2019, in Ternopil.
