Yevgeny Korotin is an ethnographer and scientist born on March 26, 1926, in Oral, Kazakhstan. He obtained his education from Oral Pedagogical Institute in 1955 and completed his postgraduate studies at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University in 1958. Since then, he has been teaching at Oral Pedagogical Institute. Korotin has conducted extensive research on local folklore, leading to the collection of over 700 folk works from local Kazakhs. He also organized 35 scientific-ethnographic expeditions and established various folklore archives and institutions.
