Born on February 29, 1920, in Smolensk, he became a People's Artist of the RSFSR in 1981. Throughout his career, Kumankov participated in the creation of several notable films, including 'Ivan Vasilyevich Changes Profession', 'It Can't Be!', 'The Twelve Chairs', 'Sadko', 'Ilya Muromets', and 'The Blizzard.' He passed away on March 12, 2012, in Moscow.
