Yevhen Kurtiak was a Ukrainian writer and journalist, born on February 11, 1936, in the village of Zhelekhiv Velykyi, now known as Velykosilki, in the Lviv region. He became a member of the Union of Journalists of Ukraine in 1958 and joined the Union of Soviet Writers of Ukraine in 1962. His work contributed to Ukrainian literature and journalism, and he remained active in the field until his death on September 17, 1996, in Lviv.
