Yi Cheong, born on April 23, 1936, is a member of the former Imperial Family of Korea. He was a Korean-Japanese noble during the period of Japanese rule in Korea from 1945 to 1947. He is the great-great-grandson of Heungseon Daewongun and the eldest son of Yi U and Park Chan-ju. Following Japan's defeat in World War II, he lost his nobility titles due to a new constitution enacted in 1947. Yi Cheong graduated from Marquette University and later published a significant 4-volume work on his ancestor's history in 2006.
