Yōko Imoto is a Japanese picture book author and illustrator born on October 20, 1944, in Hyōgo Prefecture. She has published over 200 books, which have been translated into several languages including English, German, French, Finnish, and Korean. Among her most popular works is a series specifically aimed at babies encountering picture books for the first time, which has sold over four million copies. Her illustrated Hiragana learning book, AIUEO no Ehon, has also achieved bestseller status in Japan, selling 2.4 million copies.
