Yolanda Lastra de Suárez (born 1932) is a Mexican linguist specializing in the descriptive linguistics of indigenous languages of Mexico. She earned her Ph.D. in 1963 from Cornell University, with her dissertation focusing on the syntax of Cochabamba Quechua in Bolivia under the supervision of Charles Francis Hockett. Lastra has worked extensively on the linguistic documentation and dialectology of Nahuatl and Otomi, and she is recognized as a leading authority on Otopame languages. Her 1986 book, 'Áreas dialectales del Náhuatl moderno', is the most comprehensive work on modern Nahuatl dialectology published to date.
