Yonejirō Katsura was a renowned rakugo performer in the Kamigata tradition, born in Kyoto on April 9, 1924. His real name was Osamu Hayashi. He began his rakugo career in 1949 under the mentorship of the fourth generation Katsura Beidanjirō. Although he retired in the 1950s, he participated in amateur rakugo performances in Kyoto and contributed unique works such as 'Kawashiri Tōbō' and 'Kuchi Aiwai Gana' to the repertoire. He was known for preserving traditional performance styles handed down from his teachers.
