Yonetayū Takemoto (竹本 米太夫), born Matsuzaki Haruo on March 25, 1916, was a prominent Gidayū narrator in the world of Kabuki theater. He was born in Tokyo and started his journey in traditional narrative art by learning under the sixth leader of the Bunraku, Takemoto Tosa daiyu. After World War II, he transitioned to Kabuki with the help of his senior colleague, Kyoudaidou. He adopted the Takemoto Yonetayū name in 1949 and established the Takemoto Gidayū Association in 1982, later receiving the Order of the Rising Sun in 1990.
