Yoshiro Nakamatsu, also known as Dr. Nakamats, is a Japanese inventor born on June 26, 1928, who claims to hold over 3200 patents, making him the world record holder in this area, followed by Thomas Edison with 1093 patents. He invented the floppy disk at the University of Tokyo in 1950, along with the digital clock and compact disc. He reportedly licensed several patents to IBM in 1979, although details about these arrangements are unclear. In 2007, Nakamatsu ran for Tokyo's city council and later for the Japanese House of Councillors but was unsuccessful.
