Ype Schaaf was a Dutch preacher and journalist of Frisian descent, born on April 12, 1930, in Ljouwert. He studied theology at the University of Groningen and became a mission preacher in Cameroon in 1959. After returning to the Netherlands in 1968, he worked for the Dutch Bible Society. From 1977 to 1990, he was the chief editor of the Friesch Dagblad and authored several books, some translated into French, focusing on themes like Christian mission, Africa, Friesland, evangelism and culture. He appeared occasionally on television for NCRV.
