Yū Yamamoto, born Yutaka Yamamoto on December 24, 1946, was a Japanese anime author and screenwriter. He began his career around 1973 at Tatsunoko Production. He created notable series such as 'Angie Girl' and the 'J9' saga, which includes three TV series aired between 1981 and 1984. He collaborated with Monkey Punch for original character designs. Yamamoto contributed to popular anime as a screenwriter, including 'Gordian', 'Yattaman', the first 'Gundam' series and its film trilogy, as well as overseeing the script for 'Lamū'.
