Yukito Ayatsuji, born Nayuki Ushida on December 23, 1960, is a Japanese author known for his works in mystery and horror. He is a founding member of the secret club Honkaka and a prominent figure in the new tradition movement in Japanese mystery writing. His first novel, "Jūkakukan no satsujin" (Murder in the Decagon), was ranked the 8th best Japanese mystery novel of all time. His wife is Fiomi Ono, a fiction and horror writer known for her series "The Twelve Kingdoms."
