Yumilka Ruíz is a former Cuban volleyball player, born on May 8, 1978, in Camagüey. She was a key member of the Cuban national team that won Olympic gold medals in 1996 and 2000, and bronze in 2004. Known for her impressive jump height of 3.29 meters, she was often compared to the legendary Mireya Luis. Ruíz played professionally in Cuba, Italy, and Russia and retired in 2008. After a brief comeback from 2012 to 2015, she served on the International Olympic Committee's Athletes' Commission from 2008 to 2016. She was inducted into the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2023.
